Kansas City Chiefs: Potential tight end prospects in 2019 NFL Draft
By John McCarty
The Chiefs are likely to draft a tight end, and with the 2019 Draft being so strong and deep at the position, it’s hard to imagine the Chiefs not using an early pick at the position.
If the Chiefs move back, out of round one into the early portion of round two, the Chiefs could target Alabama’s Irv Smith.
If they choose to wait, Ole Miss’s Knox would make sense but perhaps targeting a player like Jace Sternberger and Isaac Nauta in the third round would make the most sense. The Chiefs would be in a position to add an impact defender or two in the early rounds and still find a potential starting tight end for the 2020 season in the middle rounds of the 2019 draft.
With Chris Conley, Demetrius Harris, Spencer Ware and Anthony Sherman leaving in free agency, offensive production and ability to provide help both in the run and pass block, tight end is a position the Chiefs will target, and can find a talent to help the football team in 2019 and years to come.
