Kansas City Chiefs: Potential tight end prospects in 2019 NFL Draft

TIGHT END DRAFT PROSPECTS – JACE STERNBERGER (TEXAS A&M)
Does this name sound familiar? Prior to spending his junior season in College Station playing for Texas A&M, Jace Sternberger spent his first two collegiate seasons playing at the University of Kansas.
After redshirting in 2015, Sternberger would haul in one catch during the 2016 campaign and promptly transferred. During his one and only season on the field for Texas A&M, he hauled in 832 yards and ten touchdowns.
Similar in style to Iowa’s Noah Fant, Sternberger is a able to get up the seam and displays a quality of receiving speed with hands and power. Perhaps a better blocker than Fant, Sternberger needs to put on more weight and become more stout while blocking along the line of scrimmage.
He can struggle blocking in space. A match-up problem in the slot against a linebacker, Andy Reid could have fun with a player such as Sternberger.
Sternberger needs to add some bulk to his frame and continue refinement, especially as a blocker. He’s not an elite tight end prospect, but Sternberger is the type of player that will have a solid NFL career for many years and be highly productive.
The Chiefs, if they focus their attention elsewhere early, could be fortunate to find a prospect such as this.
