JORGE BONIFACIO

After having an impressive rookie season in 2017, Jorge Bonifacio fell back down to Earth in 2018. He had to sit out the first 80 games of the season due to being popped with a suspension and once he returned to the diamond, Bonifacio struggled to get going.

Bonifacio hit just .225 last year and he can’t continue to hit that poorly. With right field being one of the few open positions, Bonifacio needs to bring his A-game. If he hits well, putting him in as a designated hitter could certainly happen this year.

Either way, the Royals need to see the 2017 Bonifacio who hit .255  and 17 home runs.

JOSH STAUMONT

Last, but not least, we have Josh Staumont. The former second round pick in 2015 had himself a nice season in 2018, posting a 3.51 ERA in his 40 games. The Storm Chasers moved him from a starter to a reliever and that would definitely be his role in KC.

Staumont is on the Royals 40-man roster, so there’s a chance he makes the bullpen right out of Spring Training. An impressive outing over the next month would only help his chances of making the Opening Day roster.
