DEVINE OZIGBO, NEBRASKA

Perhaps a similar version to Priest Holmes for Chiefs fans, Devine Ozigbo of Nebraska is an interesting name to keep an eye on in the later rounds of the draft for the Chiefs. Built strongly at 230 pounds,  the Nebraska runner is a ‘thunder’ type back that could be a quick impact player for the next couple years for the Chiefs.

Ozigbo displays good patience along with quiet and quick feet to go along with his size, allowing him to overcome his lack of true speed. Aided with good balance and vision, he combines that with his size and power to get down field and in a hurry. Used primarily as a short yardage, power back early in his career, Ozigbo emerged in the new Nebraska offense this past season.

He has had issues at times in the past receiving the football, but has improved. This past season, he was able to bring in 23 catches from a true freshman quarterback during his senior season to go with 1,082 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Ozigbo is the classic power back prospect that would likely pair well with the quickness of Damien Williams in the ever classic and often overused ‘thunder and lightning’ back field.

As a mid to late round type prospect, there is potential for him to stay in the league for a while at a minimum as a complimentary back, perhaps with Williams grinding out first downs for the Chiefs and converting first downs at the end of games.
