FIVE QUESTIONS TO ANSWER IN SPRING TRAINING

NUMBER 4 – WHAT WILL THE BULLPEN LOOK LIKE?

The Royals bullpen was once the team’s strength, but quickly turned into a weakness once the H-D-H trio was elsewhere. Last year, there wasn’t a ton to like about the bullpen, but it should be a bit better in 2019.

It’ll be interesting to see just WHO makes the cut, as there are plenty of options for the Royals to choose from.

Will former first round pick Kyle Zimmer finally make it to the big leagues? If so, a bullpen spot is more likely for him than making the rotation. What about Connor Greene? Could he pack a punch out of the pen? Can Josh Staumont get to the big leagues and make an impact as a reliever?

Last year, Tim Hill and Kevin McCarthy were two of the better relievers in Kansas City and both deserve a spot. They’re both allowed less than stellar spring trainings, but I’d say there are several spots up for grabs in the pen.
