FIRST ROUND DRAFT OPTIONS – DEFENSIVE END

A switch to the 4-3 defensive scheme allows the Chiefs to far better utilize the players on their roster while also (possibly) moving on from players that don’t fit the new scheme. However, the Chiefs could use a 4-3 defensive end, as current free agent Dee Ford isn’t a fit at end while Breeland Speaks and Tanoh Kpassagnon are unproven.

Charles Omenihu, Texas

After a solid season for the Longhorns in the offensive Big 12 conference, Omenihu had a strong Senior Bowl and showed he can play as an end in the 4-3 defense. At 6’6″ and 275 pounds, he is a great combination of size and athleticism along the defense.

If he tests well at the Combine, he could move himself  into a position to be in the discussion when the Chiefs come up on the board at 29.
