ROUND 6 – PICK 40 (215TH OVERALL)

With their second pick in round six, the Chiefs head back to the defensive side of the ball and draft Joe Giles-Harris out of Duke. The Blue Devil linebacker was a tackling machine during his time at Duke, totaling 313 through three full seasons at the helm.

Last year was actually his lowest total, as he had 81 tackles. The two seasons prior he went for over 100 tackles in both seasons. The Chiefs need help with stopping the run and with Giles-Harris’ tackling ability, hopefully that’s somewhere he could be plugged in at and be put right to work.

Here is what The Draft Network said about Giles-Harris’ tackling abilities,

"One of the best finishers in the 2019 NFL Draft. Has great habits as a wrap-up tackler and will lasso ball carriers on lateral challenges below the waist. Does well to drive his feet on contact and ensure he’s able to transfer power through the ground and into his finish."

Tackling has been an issue for the Chiefs defense over the years, so adding someone who appears to be a “can’t miss” tackler like Joe Giles-Harris could be striking gold for the Chiefs.
