CHIEFS WHO SHOULD BE CUT – DANIEL SORENSEN

The safety position is an area of concern for the Chiefs, so why cut Daniel Sorensen? Fans who watched the AFC Championship Game and not many regular season games for the Chiefs might especially wonder why I’d recommend this, but Sorensen isn’t worth what the Chiefs are paying him.

Sorensen did have a nice game against the Patriots, but for the most part, he hasn’t been great. He’s a bit slow and there are better options at safety for the team as of now (obviously Eric Berry and even Jordan Lucas deserves a shot).

Sorensen was a nice third safety option when Berry was healthy and Ron Parker was still decent, but he’s not fit to be a starting safety. The Chiefs made a decent decision in extending him after the 2016 season, but is the money worth it now? He signed a $16 million extension at the time.

The Chiefs MUST add a number of safeties in the draft and free agency this year, so cutting Sorensen wouldn’t be too problematic. In a new scheme, he might not fit in all that great anyway, so this move is one that might need to be made.
