KC Chiefs: 2019 Senior Bowl prospects who could interest Chiefs in draft
By John McCarty
The Senior Bowl always provides an opening draftable prospects and this year was no exception. Who could interest the KC Chiefs in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft?
The Kansas City Chiefs, despite their impressive 2018 season behind first year starter Patrick Mahomes and AFC Championship game appearance, have holes and issues to be addressed and filled.
Free agency is likely to remove starters from the roster and trades may further create holes. However, what is taken away can be brought back with quality draft selections.
Annually, the Senior Bowl provides a window of talent of draft able prospects. Who are some names Chiefs fans should keep an eye on as the draft process kicks off?
Nasir Adderley, Safety (Delaware)
The Chiefs are likely looking to address the safety position this offseason and Nasir Adderley could be an option. Standing at 5’11” and 195 pounds, Adderley was very solid during Senior Bowl week, being named as a team captain for the game by Jon Gruden, who coached the North unit.
Adderly mainly played a centerfield-type safety during his last couple seasons, using his ability to read and react with speed and decisiveness to make an impact both in the passing and running game.
He also has experience playing down in the box helping in run support and lining up as a slot corner in pass coverage. A quality tackler and often chooses the sure tackle over the big hit, wrapping up and bringing down the ball carrier.
Adderley is related to Packers Hall of Famer Herb Adderley and has been shooting up media draft boards since the end of the season. If the Chiefs want to add the safety prospect, they will have to do it in round one, and he may not fall to them. He’s a quality safety prospect.
