The Kansas City Chiefs have officially begun their offseason after a heart breaking loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. Brett Veach has a very important six months ahead of him in deciding who stays and who goes.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has already made the right choice in moving on from defensive coordinator Bob Sutton. This was a move that HAD to be made and the hiring of the right coach could be what gets this team to where it wants to be next season.

For Veach though, it will all start with tough decisions on players that are currently still on the roster or are on the way out. With a full load of picks to work with this draft, and the finagling of some cap space, the turnaround for this defense and team could be tremendous.

To be clear, this post is strictly just a matter of my opinion and moves that I would think would be best for the Chiefs moving forward. So, here are four players I believe the Chiefs should move on from.

In what started out to be one of the better picks the Chiefs had made in the last four years has now turned into an unreliable player. Many felt that Mitch Morse was a bit of a reach when the Chiefs selected him in the second round of the 2015 draft.

That was put to rest quickly when he found himself in the starting lineup after week two of his rookie campaign. His rookie campaign was solid, starting in 15 games and making the All-Rookie team for Pro Football Reference.

Morse followed up his rookie year with another solid season, starting and playing in all 16 games and showing signs of becoming one of the best interior offensive lineman in the NFL. Where things went wrong was in week two of 2017, when Morse sustained a serious foot injury after taking on a bull rush from Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro Defensive lineman, Fletcher Cox.

Morse would go on to miss nine games and had to have surgery on the foot in the offseason. He came back ready to be the starter this year and got off to a solid start, helping to lead the Chiefs to another 5-0 start and anchoring the line of the best offense in the league.

With another bad stroke of luck, he sustained a concussion against New England in their week six loss and had to miss time again. Insert Austin Reiter, who filled in nicely for four starts and the Chiefs rewarded him with a two-year contract extension back in December.

The writing is on the wall with the Reiter extension and I don’t think Brett Veach will be spending on a player who hasn’t played a full season in two years.
