Kansas City Chiefs: Coldest games in Chiefs history
COLDEST GAMES IN CHIEFS HISTORY – NUMBER 1
DECEMBER 18, 1983 VS BRONCOS (0.5°)
At last! The coldest game in Chiefs history came in 1983 against the Broncos with the game time temperature being right at zero and the windchill was a frigid -19 degrees. Brrr!
The Broncos were a decent team in 1983 while the Chiefs were not, but you wouldn’t know that when reading up about this game. Kansas City demolished the Broncos by a score of 48-17 and ended the year at 6-10. Denver finished at 9-7.
The Chiefs led 28-3 at half time and tacked on another 20 points in the second half. John Elway had one of his worst games versus KC, throwing four interceptions and no touchdowns. One of those picks was returned the other way for six points.
Then Chiefs quarterback Bill Kenney wasn’t great, but he didn’t have to be. He tossed two touchdowns and 161 yards and eventually rookie Todd Blackledge got to play, throwing for 116 yards and a score.
This zero degree game is the coldest ever in Kansas City Chiefs history.
