WHAT TO WATCH IN AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Patriots Run Game

Perhaps too much is being made about the Patriots ability to run the ball all over the Chargers this past divisional round and quite possibly not enough is being made. The Patriots, especially behind rookie Sony Michel, ran all over the Chargers on their way to a blowout victory.

That same Chargers team limited a great running team in Baltimore, so them getting destroyed by the Patriots in that area was surprising.

Did the Patriots run over a west coast team traveling to the opposite coast for the second consecutive week? Are the Patriots the team that will come in and run the ball down the Chiefs defense as they prepare to face off against the Brady led offense?

Part of being able to run the ball a lot is converting third downs, and if the Chiefs are able to get the Patriots off the field on third down or force the Patriots into predictable passing situations, that’s a good sign for the defense. It’s also something they were able to do against the Colts and the good guys won that battle.

Can the Chiefs do it again?
