Arrowhead Stadium has a well-earned reputation for being a hostile playing environment for visiting teams. This Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs fans will need to be at their best to bring the noise.

The Kansas City Chiefs host the New England Patriots on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game for the right to advance to the Super Bowl. For an organization that has neither hosted this event before nor have they ever won trophy bearing the name of the organization’s founder, there is no better opportunity for the Chiefs than the one that awaits them.

In order to hoist the trophy and roll down to Atlanta, the Chiefs will have to defeat the Patriots. They have done it before, but Chiefs fans, the team needs your help.

Your voice, your presence will be VITAL for the Chiefs. Being loud is not loud enough. The crowd at Arrowhead must be ear splitting, airplane taking off from midfield loud. This Sunday, another chapter must be written into the Legend of the Roar.

This game on Sunday will be played with more at stake and more reward than any game in the history of the organization. Chiefs fans have waited decades for an opportunity like this in their hometown, so they have a role to play in the outcome. How can they impact the game?

First, be mindful of tailgating. Get to the stadium early. Get your fun on. Enjoy a nice warming beverage, perhaps a bourbon or whiskey that warms the soul. Enjoy a nice meal.

The Patriots must feel the presence of Chiefs fans from the moment they come on the field. For instance, make discussions during the team stretch difficult. Make the volume trickle into the locker room. Simply coming on the field must be akin to entering a rock concert.

From the moment the gates to the stadium open to the final whistle (and after the trophy presentation) Chiefs fans must ensure their presence is felt, heard, and seen.

To ensure fans are ready and able to have that impact on the game, please keep yourself in control. Enjoy your beers, but make sure you can make it through the game, ready to be the reason the Chiefs advance to the Super Bowl, and not the Patriots.

It’s difficult to be loud and impact the opposing teams ability to find their groove if fans are passed out in their seats or in the parking lots. Have fun, but be smart. Remember, there is Championship gear to purchase.

The Patriots committed several penalties on the road against the Steelers and were awful against the Dolphins on the road in that same category. This is a team that lost to the Detroit Lions on the road and their 3-5 road record indicates that they are a shell of themselves on the road.

Chiefs fans, lets make sure their atrocious performances on the road continue.

Chiefs Kingdom – Remember this.

  • Wear red. If you don’t have a red stocking cap, go buy one. Red jacket, red gloves, red, red, red. If you don’t have it, go buy it. IT NEEDS TO BE A SEA OF RED.
  • Be sober enough to ensure your presence is felt for the duration of the game. This is going to be a 60 minute game and every second will be important.
  • BE LOUD! You can’t be loud enough, and this isn’t a time to be quiet. It’s a time to be a proud member of Chiefs Kingdom. This Sunday, we make the difference. We matter.

Ladies and gentlemen, remember, this is the game to decide who goes to the Super Bowl and it’s taking place in our house. This is our backyard where the game will be played out. This is what we have been waiting for since the first day we did a chop or the first time we threw gum at an Elway photo.

Chiefs fans, this is your time. Now go out there and take it.
