The Kansas City Chiefs host the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game this Sunday. The Chiefs are the favorites as of now and that’s led to the Patriots playing the “Nobody believes in us” card. Ha!
Over the last two decades, one thing has remained constant in the NFL and that’s that the New England Patriots are always a contender to win the Super Bowl no matter what. They’ve won five titles with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick at the helm. Yet somehow, they’re playing the underdog card against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hilarious, right?
The Chiefs are indeed the favorites right now (three point favorites to be exact), but that’s likely due to the game being played at Arrowhead Stadium. Home field advantage is taken into consideration when it comes to odds and whatnot. The crowd is on the Chiefs’ side, not the Patriots, so in a big moment, that could help decide the game.
With the Patriots being “underdogs” in the odds, they’ve really taken that label and run with it this week, to the point where it’s getting a bit ridiculous.
The whole "nobody believes in us trope" by the #Patriots comes off as insecure. If you believe you're going to win, just go out and do it. No need for the nonsense.

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman tweeted out a Patriots themed t-shirt that says “Bet Against Us”. There’s also a video with that “Bet Agains Us” motto being the theme. Is anyone really buying this “No one believes in us!” crap that the Patriots are pouring on everyone right now?

New England has been in the last two Super Bowls and won one of them. If they beat the Chiefs and make it this year, it’d be three straight appearances for them. How is that an underdog?
It’s reasons like these antics this week that make all other NFL fans hate the Patriots. This is an organization that is always a contender to win it all. So many fans would love to be in that situation every year yet here they are whining about how no one believes in them.
Even this year, which was considered a “down year”, the Patriots wound up at 11-5 and the two-seed in the AFC. That’s a down year for them. Anyone would take that as a down year for their respective team.
The Kansas City Chiefs might be three-point favorites this week, but it’s not like they’re a lock to win this game. They’re going up against arguably the greatest football dynasty of all time and while the underdog label is ridiculous and stupid, maybe this is what pushes the Patriots to a victory this weekend over KC.
Lose the label, New England. No one is betting against you.
