We’ll get into Mahomes more, but first let’s check out why a column like this even needs to be written.

Kansas City Chiefs twitter entered meltdown mode as soon as the Colts jump ahead of the Houston Texans 14-0 last weekend and cruised to a 21-7 victory.

ESPN Kansas City personality Josh Brisco is nervous for the matchup:

Geoff Schwartz, an offensive lineman on the Chiefs 2013 team and brother to current offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz, almost seems like he’s ready to throw in the towel.

Chiefs’ fan Brett Rasdall was one who didn’t even wait to see if the Colts would beat the Texans to get scared:

And then, the national media started getting in on the act:

Matt Lane of Arrowhead Pride, and seemingly sane Chiefs fan, summed it up well:

Evan Silva of Rotoworld provided some actual stats for the matchup. (P.S. they allowed 38 points to the Patriots):

Yes, the Colts are hot, winning ten of their past 11 games. But the Chiefs won their final ten games of the 2015 regular season and crushed the Texans in the Wild Card Round. I doubt the New England Patriots were scared of them coming into Foxborough on their way to a win and eventual Super Bowl appearance.
