CHIEFS WHO MUST STEP UP – CHRIS JONES

If there is a match-up that will feature two great young players, this will be it. Quenton Nelson, the rookie guard for the Colts, has made pancaking defenders a weekly achievement and completely dominating defenders that dared to get in his way. Most recently was owning Texans pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney straight to the ground.

Chris Jones may just be the biggest, most athletic opponent the rookie has faced during his first campaign as a pro. Jones’ combination of power, speed and size are found in few defensive lineman in the league.

Chris Jones is having a stellar season to the tune of 15.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Can Jones make enough plays to help? Will he be able to slow down the offensive line highlight reel often enough to keep the Colts offense from gaining momentum?

The combination of Jones with Justin Houston on the outside should help to keep the attention of the Colts offensive line. If they are able to generate enough pass rush and get enough stops in the run game, the defense may be able to do enough to avoid the dreaded shootout the Chiefs far too often have come up on the short side of.
