DEXTER LAWRENCE – DEFENSIVE TACKLE (CLEMSON)

Perhaps no players draft status could be in flux more than Dexter Lawrence, the massive Clemson defensive tackle. In a league focused on passing, large run stuffing tackles can slide down the boards. The junior stands at 6’4″ and 340 pounds and could be a powerful companion to Chris Jones and Xavier Williams.

Lawrence has recorded ten sacks during his career at Clemson along with 18 tackles for loss. Past that, he has recorded 131 combined tackles.

Questions come from Lawrence’s suspension in the playoffs for testing positive for a banned substance. While Lawrence continues to indicate he is unaware of how the banned substance entered his system, he still tested positive twice for a banned substance. A second test on the same sample also tested positive, which the linked article mentions.

Lawrence, as many of the prospects, will see his draft status vary depending on draft leadup and interview process. While Lawrence may not be the ideal fit for the Chiefs where they are picking in round one, Lawrence would certainly be an interesting pairing next to Xavier Williams or Derrick Nnadi along the defensive front.
