The NCAA Championship Game is loaded with potential talent for the 2019 NFL Draft. Here are some names in particular KC Chiefs fans should keep an eye on.

With the 2019 National Championship taking place on Monday night between Alabama and Clemson, let’s take a look at some draft prospects for the Kansas City Chiefs.

IRV SMITH JR – TIGHT END (ALABAMA)

Perhaps the most complete tight end in a  deep tight end draft class, Irv Smith Jr. would be an ideal pairing with Travis Kelce at a position with no depth past this current playoff run. Limited production in part due to the Alabama offensive run first scheme, Smith has experience lining up in the slot, in the backfield along with the more traditional inline scheme.

Smith has shared time with Hale Hentges at the position that was also dominated by O.J. Howard among others previously.  In the past two seasons, Smith has recorded ten touchdowns and nearly 800 yards receiving for the Crimson Tide. Because of the Alabama run first scheme, Smith has been asked to run block along with pass block, something he would be asked to do at the professional level.

Drafting Smith would be an interesting decision by the Chiefs. He certainly would fit what they want to do and could help both in the run game and pass game. Travis Kelce is not getting any younger and with Demetrius Harris set to be a free agent and little behind him, the position of depth is certainly a need.
