The Kansas City Chiefs hold the top seed in the AFC playoffs and have big aspirations to take it all the way to the Super Bowl. While there’s hopefully a lot still left for this season, it’s never too early to speculate about free agency.

Kansas City Chiefs fans should be grateful for the team that John Dorsey helped to build in his time in Kansas City. His philosophy was more about building through the draft rather than making a big move in free agency. While there’s definitely value in doing that, it’s also nice to see the work that Brett Veach is doing in regards to going after free agents.

In the last couple of seasons, we’ve seen Veach take some gambles on a few low-risk high reward players like Reggie Ragland, Cam Erving, and just recently with Kelvin Benjamin.

Andy Reid seems to have a knack for taking another team’s trash and turning it into a treasure. The players mentioned above may not be NFL superstars, but their performance in Kansas City at least seems to exceed their performance with their previous team.

These type of players that Veach has acquired have been drafted in the lower rounds, but don’t seem to fit with that team for one reason or another. Sometimes it’s an injury history while other times it might just come down to a coaching change.

Knowing that the Chiefs seem to be on the lookout for these kinds of scenarios, here are some players that they could potentially pursue. Ideally, they would be one-year “prove it” contracts that would be very team friendly.
