AARON DONALD

Nine times out of ten, the MVP award goes to a quarterback. The last time a non-quarterback won the award was when Adrian Peterson went for over 2,000 rushing yards in 2012.

It’s rare enough when someone other than a quarterback wins MVP, but a defensive player winning it is basically unheard of these days. The last defensive player to do so was Lawrence Taylor in 1986.

Yeah, with that said, it’s not very likely that Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams is going to be named Most Valuable Player. That’s unfortunate too, as Donald has been a fantastic player for the Rams this year.

The Rams defensive lineman posted 20.5 sacks this year and will be in strong contention to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Unfortunately, defensive guys just aren’t in the conversation when it comes to winning MVP.
