NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (TWO SEED)

The two-seed, and AFC East champs, is the Patriots, who haven’t had a traditional New England type of season. They still earned the two-seed, but had the Texans not slipped up against the Eagles in week 16, we’d be singing a different tune right now because the Pats would be playing on Wild Card weekend.

This year has seen the Patriots look human and that’s great news for the other five AFC teams in the playoffs. Tom Brady is still good, but he isn’t that dominant quarterback we’re used to seeing. The rest of the team is making rare mistakes that we didn’t used to see from them too.

Oh, most importantly, the Patriots are 3-5 on the road this year, so them not having home field advantage is HUGE. If the Chiefs play to their seed and end up hosting the Pats in the championship round, it won’t be easy for Brady and Bill Belichick to get back to the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs saw New England in week six of the regular season, losing that game. It took a last second field goal by Stephen Gostkowski to give the Pats that victory for what it’s worth.

Kansas City has never been afraid to go toe-to-toe with the Patriots, beating them in Foxborough last year, and taking them to the very end this year. If a rematch does occur in the postseason, Tom Brady and the Patriots will have to come to Arrowhead and that’s been a house of horrors for him during his career.

The last time the Patriots played the Chiefs at Arrowhead was in 2014 and Brady got wrecked all night long. Sign me up for that!

Of course, there’s the possibility that the Chiefs lose in the Divisional Round and the Pats get home field in the championship round once again. Hopefully KC plays to their seed and hosts the Pats because it’s been somewhere the future Hall of Fame quarterback has struggled immensely in his career.
