The Kansas City Royals are coming off a rebuilding season and are likely going to be heading into year two of that rebuild. What are some resolutions for the Royals in 2019?

Most Kansas City Royals fans expected a lackluster 2018 season and that’s basically what we got. While the second half of the season wasn’t as bad as the first half was, the boys in blue will likely be in the midst of another down year in 2019.

What are some New Year’s resolutions that Kansas City should have for the 2019 season? Let’s take a look.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

NUMBER 5 – ADDRESS THE BULLPEN

When the Royals went to two World Series in 2014 and 2015 and won a title in 2015, the bullpen was one of the biggest reasons why. The relievers dropped off immensely after the H-D-H days got further behind us and in 2018, the Royals had one of the worst bullpens in all of Major League Baseball.

No one is expecting to ever see the H-D-H dominance again out of the pen, as that was very much a once in a lifetime kind of trio that we saw here in Kansas City. What would be nice though is to have a decent closer and another decent set-up man.

While there were some decent relievers in KC last year, for the most part, we were cringing at whoever was running out through the gates. It won’t be an immediate fix, especially if the reliever corp comes from in house, but the Royals need to show improvement from their team ERA of 5.04.
