With the New Year comes a new sense of optimism for the Kansas City Chiefs and for Chiefs Kingdom. These resolutions should make 2019 and beyond even better for the Red and Gold.

The Kansas City Chiefs went 12-4 under Patrick Mahomes, which was good enough to get them their third AFC West title and the top seed in the AFC playoffs. What are some New Year’s Resolutions for the Chiefs in 2019?

Number One – Get Healthy

Improving one’s health might be the number one New Year’s resolution and the Kansas City Chiefs are no different.

The first step in making a deep postseason run is to get injured players healthy and back on the field. Getting Eric Berry, Spencer Ware, and Sammy Watkins back out there definitely adds to Kansas City’s chances of winning.

The return of safety Eric Berry a few weeks ago brought a lot of excitement to Chiefs Kingdom. Unfortunately, he took a step back this last week, missing the season finale against the Raiders. Having him ready for the postseason seems to be the Chiefs’ game plan and that will help to bring some fire to a defense very much in need of it.

Running back Spencer Ware’s absence hasn’t been felt as much with Damien Williams stepping up nicely and making his presence known. Williams’ presence even seemed to be enough for the Chiefs to give him a two-year contract extension. Even so, having a healthy Ware in the mix keeps another talented back as an option for an already high octane offense.

Speaking of that high octane offense, the Chiefs haven’t quite seemed the same without wide receiver Sammy Watkins. His presence on the field not only adds a weapon for quarterback Patrick Mahomes to throw to, but it helps to keep the defensive attention away from Tyreek Hill. Getting Watkins back in January will hopefully help the Chiefs offense to return to their early season form.
