ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RECEIVING YARDS FOR NEBRASKA FOOTBALL

NUMBER 3 – JOHNNY RODGERS (2,679)

HUSKER WIDE RECEIVER/RUNNING BACK FROM 1970-1972

The only player from the 1970s to make this list is Johnny Rodgers and is anyone really surprised by that? Rodgers was truly an athlete and showcased his talents just about everywhere on the field.

While listed as a wide receiver in his first two seasons, Rodgers was considered a running back in 1972, which was the year he won the prestigious Heisman Trophy. That year saw Rodgers haul in 58 passes for 1,013 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 348 and ten scores.

Rodgers finished his three-year career at Nebraska with 154 receptions for 2,679 yards and 27 touchdowns while rushing for 836 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Johnny Rodgers was a solid player anywhere you put him on the field and he’s still third in receiving yards for the Cornhuskers to this day.
