The NFL playoffs are just over a month away and the Kansas City Chiefs currently stand tall with the number one seed in the AFC and an overall record of 9-2.
The Kansas City Chiefs are putting together one of their most memorable seasons over the last decade, but as fans we all know that we’re holding our breath until January when the ghosts of Arrowhead’s past come home.
If the Chiefs can keep pace and maintain home field, this year feels different than in years past only because of one man (or kid depending on how old you are), Patrick Mahomes.
It’s clean slate for the Chiefs and the fans until we are able to see the young man in the postseason. The obvious issue is the defense, which has been an up-and-down ride all season long to say the least. For certain though, the Chiefs defense has played considerably better at home which is why it’s important for them to lock down that one seed and fend of their scariest opponents.
Here are my four scariest opponents as the playoffs stand in week 13.
Los Angeles Chargers (8-3 and currently the 5th seed)
Philip Rivers just finished a game in which he went 25 for 25 passing including three touchdowns in that stretch. He set an NFL record for most consecutive completed passes and damn near tossed a perfect game.
The Chargers have been rolling all season except one little thing about them bothers me. Who’s their signature win against?
Perhaps their win over Seattle back in week nine has been their most impressive victory, but other than that, they’ve dropped two games to the only sure handed playoff teams they have faced. They also lost a game to Denver in the most Chargers fashion just two games ago.
That said, the Chargers have a tough road test this week in Pittsburgh where they will be without star running back Melvin Gordon. If the Chargers go into Heiz Field and grab this win without Gordon, they will really have my attention.
