MOST DISAPPOINTING CHIEFS THROUGH BYE WEEK

NUMBER 3: SPENCER WARE

In the summer of 2017, Spencer Ware was going to be the starting running back for the Kansas City Chiefs. After an injury occurred, however, rookie Kareem Hunt took over that role and fans knew that Ware wouldn’t be winning that job back as long as Hunt was healthy.

This season has been a disappointing one for the backup running back, as he’s carried the ball just 22 times for 124 yards and a touchdown. Ware finally found the end zone in week ten against the Cardinals, but before then, most of his production came in that week seven blowout over the Bengals on Sunday Night Football.

In that game, Ware accounted for 59 yards off of eight carries. That’s where most of his production has come from this season and it’s a bummer.

Yes, the Chiefs are more of a passing team, but they don’t have to be. With how bad the Rams are at stopping the run, KC should have handed the ball off more to Hunt and Ware. So yes, Ware is having a disappointing season, but it’s not all on him. The play calling hasn’t helped him out much at all.
