ROYALS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RBI: NUMBER 12 – WILLIE WILSON (509)

ROYALS OUTFIELDER FROM 1976-1990

One of the all-time greats for the Royals sits at number 12 all-time for the Royals in RBI and it’s Willie Wilson. Wilson was taken by the Royals 18th overall in the 1974 MLB Draft. He saw his first glimpse of major league action in 1976, but only played in 12 games.

Wilson was a great player, but it certainly helped that he was with the franchise for a whopping 15 years. During that time, he slashed .289/.329/.382 with 509 RBIs and 40 home runs. Wilson was not a power hitter, but he could put the ball in play and that’s what matters the most in baseball.

Wilson was a pivotal part of that 1985 World Series title, batting over .300 in both the ALCS and World Series during that run. Despite being with the organization for 15 years, Willie Wilson didn’t spend the entirety of his career in Kansas City.

After the 1990 season, Wilson continued his baseball career, but with the Oakland Athletics. Over his final four years, Wilson played for the A’s and the Cubs, both for two years a piece. He’s 12th all-time in Runs Batted in for the KC Royals .
