ROYALS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RBI: NUMBER 14 – MIKE MOUSTAKAS (441)

ROYALS THIRD BASEMAN FROM 2011-2018

MOOOOOOOSE! We all know who Mike Moustakas is and he’s 14th all-time in most RBIs all-time for the Kansas City Royals with 441.

Moustakas was the second overall pick by the Royals in 2007 and got his major league call-up in 2011, where he batted .267 and hit 30 RBI as a rookie. Moustakas struggled, even when the Royals were contending for the playoffs. The lowest he experienced as a Royal was when he briefly was sent back to the minors for about a week in 2014.

In the 2014 playoffs, Moose was better, but mainly helped his team out by smashing home runs right and left. He had five during that 2014 postseason.

What we’ll all remember Moustakas most for, however, was in the 2017 season when he broke the all-time single season home run record, crushing 38 long balls. With how productive Moustakas was that season, it was so surprising that no other teams wanted to sign him to a long-term deal the following offseason.

Moose returned to Kansas City in 2018 and was one of the best players on a bad team. The Royals rewarded him for his loyalty over the years by trading him to the Brewers, who went all the way to Game 7 of the NLCS.

Moustakas’ time as a Royal is done, but he’ll always be remembered fondly by Royals fans. He’s 14th all-time in Runs Batted In for the boys in blue.
