ROYALS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RBI: NUMBER 15 – DANNY TARTABULL (425)

ROYALS RIGHT FIELDER AND DESIGNATED HITTER FROM 1987-1991

Despite being drafted by the Reds and starting his major league career with the Mariners, Danny Tartabull saw the most success as a Royal between the 1987-1991 seasons. He’s 15th all-time in RBIs with 425 and slashed .290/.376/.518 during that time.

An All-Star (and Home Run Derby participant) in 1991, Tartabull of course went on to sign with the Yankees once he hit free agency. The outfielder didn’t live up to the hype in the Bronx, however, and definitely was at his best when he was a Royal.

The Yankees traded Tartabull to Oakland in 1995 and he after that, he spent 1996 and 1997 with two different teams. Danny Tartabull was a power hitter for the Royals and got hot at the right time to earn a deal with the Yankees.

His production he had as a Royal didn’t follow him to New York, Oakland, Chicago, or Philadelphia, however, and he was out of the league after the 1997 season. He still sits in the top 15 all-time in Runs Batted In.
