ROYALS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RBI: NUMBER 2 – HAL MCRAE (1,012)

ROYALS LEFT FIELDER AND DESIGNATED HITTER FROM 1973-1987

Plating 20 more RBIs than Amos Otis is Hal McRae, who had 1,012 runs batted in during his long career as a Royal. You’re probably noticing now that not only are these big time names, but all of them were Royals for over a decade. That certainly helps with padding the stats.

McRae was a fifth round pick by the Reds in 1965 and played with them through the 1972 season. He then wound up in Kansas City, where he spent the final 15 years of his polished Major League Baseball career.

McRae finished that 15-year career with 1,012 RBI, 169 home runs, and a slash line of .293/.356/.458. He went to three All-Star games and was named Silver Slugger in 1982, where he also led the American League in RBI that year with 133.

While that was the only year McRae went for over 100 RBI, it’s still a VERY impressive number. He was a huge part of what those Royals teams were able to accomplish and to this day, still sits second all-time in runs batted in for the boys in blue.
