ROYALS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RBI: NUMBER 3 – AMOS OTIS (992)

ROYALS CENTER FIELDER FROM 1970-1983

Amos Otis wasn’t drafted by the Royals, but he’s certainly most remembered for his time with the Royals. Otis, drafted by the Red Sox in the fifth round of the 1965 MLB Draft, made his major league debut in 1967 with the Mets.

He didn’t come to Kansas City until 1970, where he then spent the next 14 years. Otis was oh so close to batting in 1,000 runs, but ended with 992 as a Royal, good for third all-time in the category.

He slashed .280/.347/.433 with the 992 RBI and 193 home runs in that 14-year span as a Royal. Otis was a big part of those dominant teams in the 70s, making it to five All-Star games and winning three Gold Gloves during that time.

Otis played until 1984, spending his final MLB season as a member of the Pirates. He called it a career after that and is still third all-time in Runs Batted In for the Kansas City Royals.
