REASONS FOR K-STATE FANS TO BE THANKFUL

BRUCE WEBER

It’s hard to think of a head coach that arrived to a program with more vitriol and anger and won quite like Bruce Weber. After bizarre departures of Bob Huggins to West Virginia and of Frank Martin to South Carolina, K-State fans wanted a star to take over their program.

The program has had their ups and downs certainly, with seasons of Elite 8’s to sub 500 seasons with no postseason basketball. However, Weber has stayed true in Manhattan and now the program appears to be on solid footing and the anger that had been directed towards Weber has for the most part subsided as fans again are packing Bramledge for basketball.

Last season wasn’t supposed to end with an Elite 8 appearance, but Weber accomplished just that. Now, the Cats currently sit ranked 12th in the nation and just kicked Missouri’s butt on Monday night. That had to feel good to beat up on a former Big 12 squad.

While the program likely doesn’t see the ‘Octagon of Doom’ again, the university and their fans are and should be thankful Weber has done it the right way and stayed the course.
