Kansas City Chiefs: Good, Bad, Ugly vs Rams in week 11 of 2018
UGLY: PENALTIES
This was a no-brainer for anyone watching the game. Right out of the gate, the Chiefs were seeing the yellow flag thrown their way left and right. That continued on, as the Chiefs had ten penalties in the first half alone. They ended the night with 13 total penalties.
So yes, while the Chiefs had just three flags in the second half, 13 penalties on the night is downright disgusting. This is something that has to be fixed or this could very well be what knocks the Chiefs out of the postseason.
UGLY: TURNOVERS
During the Alex Smith years, one thing Chiefs fans could depend on was that the football would (for the most part) be taken care of. That wasn’t the case on Monday, as the Chiefs turned the ball over five times and that led to 21 Rams points.
Patrick Mahomes threw three picks and two of them were last ditch efforts, trying to keep the Chiefs in the game. The other two turnovers were Mahomes’ fumbles, meaning the quarterback was responsible for all five turnovers.
In no way am I blaming the loss on Mahomes, but he has to be better about this. Three interceptions and two fumbles is an ugly blemish on the stat sheet and it cost the Chiefs big time on Monday night.
