OFFENSE

Both of these units are among the NFL’s elite. Both score over 30 points per game (Rams at 33.5 and Chiefs at 35.3) and both units average six yards per play. On paper, this is about as even of a match up as you can get.

Looking at the numbers, you can tell these teams are thriving in a year where offenses are pushing defenses around and scoring points at will. That is why you have to look at the talent of each teams.

At quarterback, this seems to be easy. Patrick Mahomes is taking the NFL by storm. He has blitzed the league to the tune of 3,150 yards and 31 touchdowns this season, both of which lead the NFL. He also is completing 67% of his passes, with a QB rating of 117.4.

The field general he is facing off against, however, definitely isn’t some random Joe. Jared Goff‘s numbers don’t pop like Mahomes’, but they are more than admirable. Goff is on Mahomes’ heels with 3,134 yards passing, but has only thrown 22 touchdowns.

His completion percentage is 68% and his QB rating is at 113. Mahomes is by far the Chiefs most dangerous weapon, but that designation goes to Todd Gurley of the Rams. He is on an absolute tear through this year, with already over 1,000 scrimmage yards and 17 total touchdowns.

Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is also over 1,000 scrimmage yards, but just like Goff trails Mahomes in touchdowns, Kareem Hunt trails Gurley, having only scored 13 total touchdowns on the year. If you shift to line play, this one is the only lopsided match up, and it’s not close.
