Kansas City Chiefs address defense often in early 2019 mock draft
By John McCarty
Dee Ford is a free agent after this season and there are questions to what the Chiefs are going to do with him. Can the Chiefs keep Ford and still afford Justin Houston, scheduled to be the top paid Chief next season?
While Breeland Speaks has certainly outplayed my expectations, Tanoh Kpassagnon certainly has yet to find a spot on the field. That is why an edge rusher is needed for the Chiefs in the draft.
Joe Jackson is the pure, situational type pass rusher that could replace Ford as a pass rushing threat. Tall and lankey, Jackson currently plays defensive end for the Miami football team barreling towards a disappointing finish of the 2018 season.
Chiefs, as the league barrels towards more and more of an arena league style passing league need to continue adding more and more pass rushers. Jackson likely isn’t a player that will start in his rookie season, he could certainly provide depth along the outside and be a third down type pass rusher early in his career.
