The Kansas City Chiefs go heavy with defense, but do add some offensive players through this early 2019 mock draft. Who do the Chiefs select?

There is so much joy and angst that comes with something as ridiculous as a mock draft for the Kansas City Chiefs. One person without any direct knowledge of what a team is thinking tries their best to pick a player for that team based on what they see as as needs and values of where they are picking.

With that in mind, I’m going to play the role of Chiefs general manager and try to compile a mock draft that makes sense to well, me. To verify value, I did a mock draft simulation through FanSpeak.com. The only player of differing value is the third rounder. Different scouting services value his potential differently. I value him in round three, some value him higher.

The Chiefs have a need for a front line cornerback. The position has not been nearly the weak spot many expected after watching this team during the offseason and preseason games. Orlando Scandrick and Steven Nelson are free agents after this season and Kendall Fuller is a free agent after the 2019 season.

Julian Love is a physical corner with good quickness and reaction speed. Playing both sides of the field, the Notre Dame corner can attack inside and outside. His play style to best compare to a Chief is Kendall Fuller and Marcus Peters. Love has the body size and plays around the line of scrimmage similar to Kendall Fuller, but has a knack for hanging with receivers down the field a bit like Marcus Peters does.

A concern with Love is similar to the concerns with Fuller at times. Is Love fast enough to cover down the field and does he have the length to truly be an outside cover corner? That is data we won’t fully know for sure until the combine and pro days.
