DREW POMERANZ (STARTING PITCHER)

Drew Pomeranz was a big addition to the Red Sox in 2016 coming over the previous season in a trade from the Padres. He struggled mightily this past season during 11 starts with the World Series champion, posting a WHIP exceeding 1.77. Injuries really plagued his 2018 campaign however.

Again, this is a bounce back type candidate. Left handers, especially left handers that don’t throw with great velocity, can struggle in Boston with the short wall in left field beckoning righties to pull balls into and over the wall.

If the Royals believe Pomeranz can be a valuable piece as a middle to back rotation type starter on a short term deal, he could provide value in a ballpark that is considerably bigger than Fenway. It doesn’t hurt that he’s already been linked to Kansas City in the offseason by MLB Trade Rumors either.
