Kansas State Football: Who will replace Bill Snyder if he retires after 2018?
By John McCarty
Why would Bill Snyder consider retiring and why are fans of the Wildcat program ready for the legend to step aside?
For those that pay attention, the struggles of this season are not a total surprise. Much like slow erosion, often those not paying attention to details fail to see the issue until the house is falling into the ocean or cascading down a cliff.

The Wildcat roster lacks play makers and overall roster depth. Nearly 30 players have left the program since the start of August in 2017, robbing the roster of needed depth not only this year, but years down the road. As more talent prepares to leave either through graduation or pursuing other opportunities, the issues and problems will only get worse in coming seasons.
Snyder is also not getting any younger, having recently turned 79. Already having suffered a health scare in the past season, growing older with age and now a program that has struggled to compete, the future looks bleak.
So why does Snyder possibly retire? When he returned back from the retirement, Bill Snyder indicated he was returning to ‘calm the waters.’ Much like the incoming of the tide, the waters are no longer calm.
If Snyder is true to his word, and he is able to see the issues plaguing the program, for the betterment of the Wildcat football program, Bill may view it in the programs best interest to allow someone else to roam the sidelines of the stadium that bears his very name.
