Scott Satterfield – Appalachian State Head Coach

Scott Satterfield has a resumé at Appalachian State in a short period that is quite impressive. After taking over for a program at the 1AA level and leading the program to a point that earlier in the 2018 season, the Mountaineer program was ranked in the top 25.

In what could be described as an interesting piece of irony, former Wildcat receivers Corey Sutton and Dominique Heath have caught eight touchdowns, 700 receiving yards on 37 receptions.

Since taking over the program in 2013,  Scott Satterfield has amassed a 47-24 record  after coming over from Florida International in 2012 (served one year as the offensive coordinator in 2012). He played quarterback at Appalachian State and started his coaching career there as well, along with the FIU stop and a stop at Toledo in 2009 as the quarterback coach.

One has to wonder if the Kansas State program is the one he would want to truly take on. He’s never coached further west than Toledo, and with a job opening at Maryland and with possible openings at North Carolina (Appalachian State is located in North Carolina) and Louisville, will Satterfield wait for a job much closer to home?

His name will likely be mentioned for any job opening this offseason, and will likely be mentioned for jobs next season should he decide to say where he is currently.
