KELVIN HERRERA

Kelvin Herrera is another one that seems odd to talk about as “our guy” considering he was also traded last year, but everyone thinks Royals when they think of Herrera. The former Royals closer was untouchable during his Royals 2018 season, but the luck didn’t follow him to D.C.

While closers are highly coveted, especially in free agency, Herrera’s injury problems as of late could hamper what he’ll make on the open market. Heyman and the expert in his article don’t seem to think a big deal is out there for Herrera this winter.

The expert predicts just a one-year deal at $9 million while Heyman thinks Herrera will get a two-year contract worth $16 million. If you’re the Royals, are you taking that one-year option? It might be tempting with how bad this bullpen was without Herrera and the fact that he might come back to Kansas City on a one-year deal.
