Kansas City Chiefs: Good, Bad, Mediocre vs Broncos in week 8 of 2018
GOOD: PATRICK MAHOMES
Once again, Patrick Mahomes threw for over 300 yards. He finished the day with 303 yards through the air and four touchdown passes. Mahomes did throw a pretty ugly interception, but I think with how solid he’s been this year, fans will forgive that pick.
Mahomes and the offense struggled a little bit out of the gate, but you could tell once he got hot, he wasn’t going to slow down. He had just ten incompletions (24 of 34) and continues to get better every week. The Chiefs found someone special at quarterback and it’s a great feeling.
GOOD: PASS RUSH
Any time a quarterback is sacked five times, that’s going to get the pass rush in the GOOD section. The Chiefs pass rush was all over Case Keenum, sacking him five times and Dee Ford accounting for three of those five sacks.
Ford is in a contract year and is showing he might deserve a new contract in Kansas City. Whether the Chiefs end up paying him remains a mystery, but Ford now has eight sacks through eight games. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Chris Jones and rookie Breeland Speaks had the other two sacks. Speaks had a decent game, sacking Keenum and recovering a fumble as well, but there were moments where he definitely looked like a rookie.
Chiefs pass rush though… Very, very good on Sunday!
