Kansas City Chiefs: Possible trade targets for Chiefs at deadline
By John McCarty
POSSIBLE TRADE TARGETS FOR CHIEFS
BRANDON GRAHAM, EDGE (EAGLES)
Toss this one in the “farfetched” category, but the Eagles don’t look like they’ll be repeating as Super Bowl champs this year. In order for Brandon Graham to be on the trade block, the Eagles would have to full on admit they won’t make another championship run, which probably won’t even happen.
Graham, if traded, appears likely to save the Eagles seven million against this years cap, so I’m not sure what they could use that for (perhaps to move money around to lower cap figures for upcoming seasons). The pass rusher would likely cost the Chiefs about 3.29 against the cap this season, so it would be tough, but in theory could be doable.
I don’t see this as a likely move, as Graham isn’t a natural fit on the edge of a 34 style defense and that’s not currently what he plays. Also, a third round pick and the cap space is a lot to give up for a pass rusher that may not contribute immediately.
Can he cover running backs down the field? That’s important to know. However, Andy Reid knows him from Philadelphia and if the Chiefs wanted to beef up the front, maybe they look here?
