Kansas State Football: Making bowl game tough task, but not impossible
Kansas State football is currently 3-4 on the year and has to win three of their final five games in order to make a bowl game this season. It’s not an easy task for the Wildcats, but it is doable.
There are five games left on the Kansas State Wildcats‘ regular season schedule and that gives K-State more than enough chances to punch their ticket to a bowl game. The Wildcats, who are 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play, haven’t had a stereotypical K-State season, but they still have a chance to make things right.
While making a bowl game requires teams to win at least six games, Kansas State doesn’t have the easiest go of it over these next five weeks. The Wildcats are coming off their bye week and now have their toughest game of the year: A road game in Norman, Oklahoma against the eighth ranked Sooners. Ooh boy.
The Sooners have already lost a game this season, but that came at the hands of Texas, a team ranked just outside of the top five. So yeah… Oklahoma is pretty good. Throw in that this is in Norman and it’s almost a guaranteed K-State loss. That would put the record at 3-5 and the Cats would now have to win three out of their final four games.

After a date with the Sooners, K-State hits the road again, this time against a mediocre TCU team. The Horned Frogs were ranked at one time, but they’ve fallen off the wagon and actually have the same overall record as the Wildcats. This game is in Fort Worth, which favors TCU, but it’s a winnable game for Kansas State for sure.
Three weeks from now is the Sunflower Showdown, as the Kansas Jayhawks come to town. Kansas is 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference. This SHOULD result in a Kansas State victory, but if there was ever a year where the lowly Jayhawks could knock off the Wildcats, it’d be this year. Pooka Williams is legit, man.
For Senior Day, the Wildcats welcome in Texas Tech, who are currently 5-2 and 3-1 in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders are a fiery team, but their defense is never really able to stop anybody. With this being the final home game of 2018, Kansas State will put up a fight.
In their final game of the regular season, the Wildcats travel to Ames, Iowa for a date with the Iowa State Cyclones. Iowa State had a fun season last year, but they’ve resorted back to mediocre football. They’re currently 3-3, but do have a winning record in Big 12 play. With this being in Ames and the final game of the season, the Cyclones might have what it takes to prevent K-State from being bowl eligible.
Making a bowl game won’t be the easiest of tasks, but it’s manageable for Bill Snyder and the Wildcats. They should knock off Kansas, but the TCU, Texas Tech, and Iowa State games could go either way. Obviously K-State has to win two of those three games in order to go bowling in December.
Do you think the Wildcats will make a bowl game?
