NOT SO UGLY: DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT

It’s been a tale of two defenses in the past two weeks. Last week the Chiefs D were torched by Tom Brady, Sony Michel, and the Patriots and the entire country got to witness that. Whenever I’d be listening to the Dan Patrick Show throughout the week, any time the Chiefs were mentioned as a Super Bowl contender, the defense being such a liability was immediately brought up (and for good reason).

This week, the Chiefs defense shut down the Bengals offense and allowed just ten points on the night. If it weren’t for A.J. Green going for over 100 yards receiving, this might have been one of the best Chiefs defensive outings ever. That’s saying something too, as today’s NFL is all about the offense putting up points and getting yards.

Will this defense stick around for the long haul? Man I sure hope so, but it’s tough to say. We’ve mostly seen them perform pretty poorly to this point, but they played fantastic against Cincinnati, which had been a high-flying offense for the most part.

Good work, Sutton! You get a gold sticker this week.
