FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS MINNESOTA

NUMBER 1 – TIME FOR ADRIAN MARTINEZ TO SHINE

Nebraska fans have thoroughly enjoyed watching Adrian Martinez run this offense and while the growing pains have been there, that should set up for the freshman to be a special player in the coming years. This week provides a good opportunity for Martinez to make some noise, as Minnesota’s secondary is not very good.

Dwayne Haskins of Ohio State threw for 412 yards and three touchdowns against the Gophers last week and the week prior allowed Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley to throw for four touchdowns and 314 yards. Haskins is a Heisman candidate and Stanley is a polished college quarterback, but we’ve seen what Martinez can do so far and this is a great time for him to show off a bit.

Nebraska needs to stick with running the ball, but Martinez also should have the ability to put up some big numbers on Saturday. Hopefully he can limit the turnovers this week (he had two interceptions versus Northwestern) and really shine for Big Red this week.
