Kansas City Chiefs: Good, Bad, Ugly vs Patriots in week 6 of 2018
UGLY: SECONDARY
Yet another aspect of the defense was ugly on Sunday night and that was the secondary. Play after play, the Chiefs allowed Patriots receivers to be left wide open. Obviously when Tom Brady is slinging the pigskin, those wide open receivers are going to get the ball and that leads to bad things for the Chiefs.
At the end of the night, Brady went 24 of 35 for 340 yards and a touchdown. No Patriots receiver went for over 100 yards, but Rob Gronkowski had 97 yards off of just three receptions. He’d just bull doze over Chiefs defenders whenever he got the ball and do whatever he wanted in typical Gronk fashion. It was pitiful to watch.
The secondary also was flagged for pass interference a lot and that’s just something that can’t happen. If this doesn’t get cleaned up, the Chiefs are going to continue to get burned time and time again. The Patriots didn’t punt a single time because the Chiefs could not stop them and if that becomes a trend, this team isn’t going far come January.
