Kansas City Chiefs: Good, Bad, Ugly vs Patriots in week 6 of 2018
BAD: FIRST HALF
It didn’t look good for the Kansas City Chiefs in the first half of this game, as they were down 24-9 at half time. The offense looked shaky and it was obvious that Patrick Mahomes had some Sunday night jitters at the start of this one. He missed some open targets, including what would have been an easy walk-in touchdown for Kareem Hunt on the first drive of the game.
The offense had to settle for three field goals when they got in the red zone and if the Chiefs find the end zone on just one of those drives, maybe the result of this game is different. While the offense eventually busted out of their slump, the defense was shaky throughout. The 24 points they surrendered in the first half wasn’t exactly promising as to what the rest of the night would bring.
BAD: INTERCEPTIONS
As mentioned not long ago, Mahomes seemed anxious in this one. He threw two really bad interceptions in the first half of the game. The first pick went right to Dont’a Hightower and the Patriots scored not long after.
The second pick was deflected and fell into the arms of Duron Harmon, who ended any hope the Chiefs had at making a late half comeback in the second quarter. Without that turnover, the Chiefs probably add a field goal at the very least, and give KC some confidence heading into the locker room at half time.
This game might have had a different result had the Chiefs not turned the ball over there.
