Kansas City Chiefs had weak offseason in 2018

WHAT WENT RIGHT
Xavier Williams has been a nice, affordable piece added to the defense and even recorded his first sack this past weekend against Jacksonville. He has provided a big body in the middle while allowing for young Derrick Nnadi to develop this year as part of a playing rotation. Williams hasn’t quite been the run stopper many were hoping, but there are various issues why that bugaboo has yet to be solved.
Orlando Scandrick has been okay. Let’s hold off on the big times highlights as the Jaguars may have the combination worst quarterback and wide receiver combo in the NFL. Combined with injuries at offensive tackle and running back, the Jaguars were not at full strength. I’m not trying to take away from Scandrick or the rest of the defense, but facts are fact.
Cameron Erving and his extension look much better after his play through five games. I’m guessing must people didn’t see this coming. What initially looked to be money thrown away may very well become money well spent. He has been an important piece along the offensive line this year.
Armani Watts was coming along and appeared like he could be a contributor after being selected out of Texas A&M this past draft. Unfortunately, he landed on the injured reserve and that certainly slows the momentum on his development.
Injuries have been an issue for the young safety, so it will be something to watch for, however, if he can stay on the field, could be a part of the 2019 safety rotation or even starter.
