FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS NORTHWESTERN

NUMBER 2 – ADRIAN MARTINEZ GETTING INTO A GROOVE

In the first game of the year, Nebraska fans were RAVING about quarterback Adrian Martinez. Unfortunately, he got hurt in that game and missed the second game of the season.

In his first appearance back from injury, Martinez couldn’t get it going against a stout Michigan defense. The last two weeks, however, Martinez has been the guy we had the pleasure of watching in the first week of the season.

In the Huskers’ loss to Wisconsin, Martinez went 24 of 42 for 384 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 57 yards rushing and found the end zone once with his legs.

In a season that’s been far from what fans were expecting, Adrian Martinez has been the bright spot and he looked fantastic in a losing effort to the Badgers last week. It’s been noticeable, however, that Martinez doesn’t really seem to get it going until later in the game when it’s too late to come back. He had a slow start against both Purdue and Wisconsin, but really got it going in the second half.

Hopefully Martinez can be consistently good throughout an entire game and this week against Northwestern’s vulnerable secondary would be a good chance for him to air it out.
