FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS NORTHWESTERN

NUMBER 3 – NORTHWESTERN GOOD AT SPREADING THE BALL AROUND

The star of last week’s upset victory over Michigan State was wide receiver Flynn Nagel, who finished the day with ten receptions for 111 yards. Nagel didn’t find the end zone, but he was a reliable target for quarterback Clayton Thorson.

Thorson did a good job at spreading the love when it came to passing the ball last week. Four different receivers had over 50 yards receiving and two of those players had touchdowns. Thorson had three total touchdowns last week and connected with three different receivers on all of them.

The Nebraska secondary has been murky this year and they’ll have their work cut out for them when it comes to trying to slow down these different receivers. Nagel had a good game and he’ll be a big name to try and limit, but Thorson gets his targets involved equally.

The Cornhuskers HAVE to get to Thorson and cover their targets well because with the Northwestern run game not being all that great, the Wildcats have no problem turning to the passing attack. Things could get away quickly from Nebraska if they allow Thorson to connect with whoever he wants down the field.
